VIJAYAWADA: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao demanded that AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu release a white paper on ‘Polavaram project’ with complete details or have an open debate on the subject.

In an open letter to Naidu, Ramachandra Rao lambasted the attitude of the TDP leaders and activists in a reaction to his letter to Naidu on January 3. Taking exception to the foul language and the attitude unbecoming that of a people’s representative, the Congress leader challenged TDP leaders to an open debate to make public the facts and figures pertaining to Polavaram project.

Rao took objection to the repeated statements of Water Resources minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and others describing him as a demon causing hurdles in the construction of Polavaram and of removing former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s name from the project.

He also took exception to the claims of Devineni that former CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy and previous governments had not played any role in Polavaram project.
