Kapu partriarch Mudragada Padmanabham will launch ‘Kapu Satyagraha Yatra’ at Ravulapalem on January 25.

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: Kapu partriarch Mudragada Padmanabham will launch ‘Kapu Satyagraha Yatra’ at Ravulapalem on January 25. The yatra is aimed at mounting pressure on the government to accord reservation to Kapus.

Disclosing the details to the media here on Friday, Kapu JAC chairman Vasireddy Yesudas said that the padayatra will reach the famous pilgrimage centre Antarvedi five days after its inaugural, via Ainavilli and Amalapuram. Every day, the yatra covers a distance of 20 km. All the protest programmes of the JAC will continue as per schedule and there is no need to obtain permission for the Satyagraha Yatra’, he claimed.

The Kapus are demanding that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu accord reservation to Kapus, as promised in the TDP’s election manifesto, he reiterated.

Though the High Court directed the government to allow the padayatra under police protection, Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa denied permission for the same.
