Thatipudi reservoir gate burst opened, two feared drowned

VIZIANAGARAM: A police constable and a woman are feared to have drowned in Thatipudi reservoir after one of its gate opened due to technical snag at S Kota of Vizianagaram district on Saturday. The fate of both the victims remains unknown and search is on for them along the banks.

According to sources, one Thoudamma (30), a resident of Dorlapalem village of Gantyada mandal, was washing clothes at the reservoir on Saturday morning. She got washed away, when one of a four gates burst opened at Thatipudi reservoir.

The incident happened around 10.30 am on Saturday. After the incident came to light, the police teams were alerted and a search operation was launched at various areas where the reservoir water flows further. In the afternoon, a police constable Simhachalam (45) reportedly noticed Thoudamma's body floating in water at Jami area. He went into the water to fish out the body, but unfortunately, he too had gone missing. Search operations are being carried out by the police in Vizianagaram district.
