VISAKHAPATNAM: Collector Pravin Kumar on Tuesday said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was very keen to develop the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park and Kambalakonda Eco Park with international standards. The collector suggested to the forest officials and private consultancy executives to prepare action plan to develop the Zoo and Kambalakonda Eco parks.

Under the Andhra Pradesh Disaster Recovery Project, the World Bank is funding `1,550 crore and the state government will chip in with `670 crore. With this, four projects including power cabling, coastal protection and beachfront development, the Zoo and Kambalakonda Eco Parks, will be taken up. All the projects have been planned to be completed by 2020. A World Bank team led by Deepak Singh called on the collector and discussed the projects. VUDA vice-chairman T Baburao Naidu, Forest conservator Prateep Kumar and Indira Gandhi Zoological Park curator Vijaya Kumar  participated in the discussion.
Deepak Singh informed the collector that 11 cyclone shelters had been identified for development. However, re-tenders are being invited for development of some shelters. Eight bridges of the Panchayat Raj department have been identified and the DPRs would be finalised next month. Several main roads in the coastal areas would be  developed with `270 crore and administrative sanction for 17 works had already been obtained. As a part of coastal protection works, `150 crore worth of works and `240 crore worth of beachfront development works were taken up by GVMC, Deepak Singh added.
