Andhra government under fire for disapproving SCS silent protest

Speakers at the roundtable meeting of all political parties faulted the government for denying permission to hold the silent protest demanding special category status.

VIJAYAWADA: Speakers at the roundtable meeting of all political parties and representatives of public organisations, held in Vijayawada on Wednesday, faulted the State government for denying permission to hold the silent protest demanding special category status.

The meeting, presided over by former minister and farmers’ leader Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao, was attended by CPM State Secretary P Madhu, CPI State Secretary K Ramakrishna, Jogi Ramesh from YSRC, M Vishnu from Congress, Raghavaiah from Jana Sena Party and Chalasani Srinivas from Pratyeka Hodha Sadhana Samithi.

The speakers described the move as an infringement of the right to expression and said the government was stifling the voice of the people.
