Two Maoist militia members surrender

Two militia members of the banned CPI (Maoist) surrendered before Paderu sub-division deputy superintendent of police M Mahendra on Wednesday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two militia members of the banned CPI (Maoist) surrendered before Paderu sub-division deputy superintendent of police M Mahendra on Wednesday.

The surrendered have been identified as V Nageswara Rao, a resident of Nurmati village, and K Bhagwan Rao (35) from Madhigaruvu village in G Madugula mandal of Visakhapatnam Agency.
In the past, both the militia members took part in several offences supporting Maoist activities in Visakhapatnam agency.

The duo were also involved in two major offences, including the Gutlamveedhi Ashram attack in January 2015, a press note issued by the Vizag Rural Police quoted DSP M Mahendra as saying.

The duo were vexed with the stringent rules being followed by the dalam and they wanted to return to the social mainstream. That’s why they surrendered, the press note said. The DSP also appealed to the other Maoists to follow the suit and call it quits.
