VISAKHAPATNAM: The number of swine flu cases is on the rise in the city. After the death of the 26-year-old woman in Vizag on January 21, another 30-year-old person from Vizianagaram has been tested positive and is undergoing treatment.

The number of suspected swine flu cases have increased to 30 from 14 a week back. Among the 30 suspected cases, 20 hail from Visakhapatnam and the rest belong to Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and Odisha. The patients are being treated at various hospitals in the city.

“We have collected samples of all the 30 people. 19 samples were given till date and two of them tested swine flu positive. The suspected cases are of the people who have joined various hospitals with symptoms and respiratory problems. Most of them are from urban areas,” said L Kalyan Prasad, the district nodal officer for swine flu. The samples hereafter will be tested at the KGH.
