VIJAYAWADA: The stage is set for the entry of TDP general secretary and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's son Nara Lokesh into the AP Legislative Council.  Lokesh will file his nomination papers for the MLC election under the MLAs' quota on March 6, TDP sources said.

As March 7 is the last date for filing nominations for MLC polls under MLAs' quota, the TDP will announce all the party candidates in a day or two.

The election will be held for seven MLC seats under MLAs quota on March 20.

According to the existing strength of the TDP and YSRC, the ruling party can win five MLCs and the opposition YSRC, the remaining two.

The YSRC has already announced Gangula Prabhakar Reddy and Alla Nani as its candidates. But, the TDP supremo is yet to announce party candidates.

As the TDP politburo, which met recently, unanimously proposed the name of Lokesh as a candidate for the MLC polls ahead of his expected elevation as minister, it is learnt that he is preparing the formalities for filing the nominations.

Though it will take some days for getting an official announcement on TDP candidates for the MLC polls, the party already cleared the name of Lokesh and he would file his nomination papers on Monday.

Names of the other candidates will be announced after another party politburo meeting, sources said.
