Seeds worth Rs 50 lakh seized in raid at Guntur

GUNTUR: Vigilance and Enforcement and Agriculture officials jointly conducted a raid on Nirmala Seeds Private Limited at Auto Nagar in the city on Wednesday. About 30 tonnes of red gram, chilli and okra seeds costing `50 lakh were seized in the raid. 


Vigilance and Enforcement SP R Sobha Manjari said the company was doing business in 13 districts of the State though it did not have any valid licence to distribute the seeds.


Agriculture officer K Ramana Kumar, Vigilance officials K Venkata Rao and S Antony Raj also participated in the raid.

Minister prevents illegal transport of gravel  
Eluru:
Endowments Minister Pydikondala Manikyala Rao stopped a truck while gravel was being illegally transported from Kothigunta irrigation tank in Madhavaram of Tadepalligudem mandal on Wednesday. Tahsildar Nagamani visited Kothigunta tank and seized an earthmover deployed for mining gravel. The lorry laden with gravel was also seized. A case was registered.
