Impersonator nabbed, gold of Rs 23 lakh recovered in Visakhapatnam

The police nabbed a person on charges of posing as an electrical lineman and stealing valuables from people’s house.

VISAKHAPATNAM: The city south sub-division police on Wednesday nabbed a person on charges of posing as an electrical lineman and stealing valuables from people’s house, at Parawada. 


On interrogation, the accused confessed to have committed several offences and 770 gm of stolen jewellery worth `22.95 lakh was recovered, said the police. 


The accused has been identified as Yallamalli Kishore (32), a native of Ambedkar Nagar in Rajolu of East Godavari district and residing at PM Palem.  He committed as many as 31 offences reported from in and around the city and rural police limits.

The accused committed nine offences in the Parawada police station limits and two each at Duvvada, Munagapaka, Kotavurutla and Narsipatnam, four at Chodavaram, one each at Rolugunta, Atchutapuram, Cheedikada, Devarapalli, V Madugula, K.Kotapadu, Payakaraopeta and Sabbavaram.

South sub-division circle inspector Pydapu Naidu and Parawada sub-inspector SK Sharif, along with other officials, produced the accused before the media at the Police Commissionerate on Thursday.


“With the theft cases becoming a regular affair in the area, we formed a team under the supervision of the ACP South and the DCP Crime to nab the accused,” said the inspector.
