KURNOOL: The dual murders of two YSRC leader — Induru Prabhakar Reddy and his brother-in-law M Srinivasulu Reddy — at Govindapalle in Allagadda Assembly constituency on Saturday night had jolted the law enforcement department.

Reacting to the killings of two of his trusted followers, YSRC MLC Gangula Prabhakar Reddy vowed to retaliate.

“Whosoever may have done this, mind you, you have to pay heavily for it,” a visibly shaken Gangula said here omn Sunday as he went to the hospital in Nandyal to receive the dead bodies.

“It is an irreparable loss to the YSRC cadre in Kurnool district,” the MLC said.

His son Bijendra Reddy and party district president Gouru Venkat Reddy, former MP Gangula Pratapand Reddy accompanied him to the hospital.

Prabhakar Reddy, a close aid of the MLC and the former MPP president, was hacked to death by unknown assailants while he was taking an evening walk with his brother-in-law Srinivasulu Reddy.

Prabhakar Reddy was said to have a clean history with no rivalry in the village. His father I Narayana Reddy was murdered by the followers of Bhuma Nagi Reddy, some 40 years ago.

Despite of taking retribution, Prabhakar Reddy was said to have left to their fate. With this attitude of him, the Govindapalle residents had a soft corner for him and supported his nomination to the MPP president post.

Apart from little distractions with his fellow leaders, Prabhakar Reddy was known to have maintained enmity or rivalry with none, it is said.

But, sources revealed that his family members could not digest that Prabhakar Reddy was adored by all in the village.

The sources said that hands of his family members’ are suspected behind the murder.

Another source said that for creating terror among people of Allagadda, Gangula’s enemies might have resorted to the crime.

Ahead of by-elections to Nandyal constituency, the family would not dare to take such steps and moreover Prabhakar Reddy had no rivalry with the Bhuma family.

Whatever the rivalry the Bhuma family has maintained that is with Gangula Prabhakar Reddy.

“Prabhakar Reddy was known as a close aid of Gangula which is another big question,” said the source.
Former minister Silpa Mohan Reddy, a big aspirant for Nandyal by-election seat from TDP, too visited the hospital and extended condolences to the bereaved family.

YSRC district convener Gowru Venkata Reddy demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
