GUNTUR: A woman who realised that she was being taken for a ride by her lover killed him by throwing acid on him here on Tuesday night. According to police, Sk Eliyaz and MPharm student K Himabindu were in a relationship and he had promised to marry her, but the boy’s parents fixed another match for him and the boy under pressure gave in to his family’s demands.

Realising that she had been cheated and that he had gotten married on Sunday, Himabindu decided to take vengeance. She called Eliyaz to meet her at her friend’s house in Venigandla in Pedakakani. When the man turned up, there was no one at the house owned by an auto-rickshaw driver but Himabindu.

As soon as Eliyaz arrived, she took him inside, where they had a heated argument.  After shouting at each other for some time, Himabindu opened the acid bottle she had secretly carried to the house and emptied its contents onto Eliyaz’s face and body.

Locals who saw him running out of the house screaming mistook him for a thief and beat him up. Eliyaz, between screams, explained to them that he had been attacked and the locals realised he was indeed speaking the truth when they saw chunks of flesh melting and falling off at several places.

He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. Police are looking for Himabindu who is on the run. Eliyaz’s brother Allabaksh has filed a case against the woman. Himabindu too seems to have been hurt in the incident.
