GUNTUR: The model police station at Sattenapalli in Guntur district is all set for inauguration on November 15.This is the first model police station to come up in Guntur rural district and the third in Guntur district. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had inaugurated two model police stations at Nagarampalem and Old Guntur in the past. Another model police station is also coming up at Chebrolu mandal in Guntur urban district limits.
DGP N Sambasiva Rao visited the Sattenapalli model police station and instructed the officials to expedite works. Addressing a press conference at Sattenapalli, the DGP said the government is planning to set up 100 model police stations and added that the government had already sanctioned 40 model police stations in the State.Sattenapalli DSP V Kalesha Vali said one Inspector, 2 SIs and 44 police personnel will be attached to one model police station.
“The police stations are being designed in a low cost ergonomic way to provide a pleasant ambience to petitioners. The police personnel will be trained in soft skills, dealing with challenge of cracking cyber crime, cheating and eve teasing,” he added.Guntur Rural SP Ch V Appala Naidu said, “The model police stations stand out for their innovation and modern building design. Designed in an area of 3,000 square feet, the police station has office space for all personnel.”
The model police stations will integrate technology with human efficiency. A brain child of the DGP, the model police stations stand out by a pleasing green ambience, impressive glass façade and the comforts of an air conditioning.Senior police officials said that functioning of police officers in model police stations would not only bring in an attitudinal and behavioural change but also help streamline the work. Rest rooms have been provided for officers and men and women, while a solitary detention room is located in the same office building.
