SI caught in ACB net

The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau caught an SI red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 at the Macherla police station in  Guntur district on Wednesday night.

GUNTUR: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau caught an SI red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 at the Macherla police station in  Guntur district on Wednesday night. ACB DSP Ch Devanand Santho said acting on a tip-off, they conducted raid at the Macherla police station and caught SI G Narayana Reddy red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of `15,000 from a lorry owner. The ACB DSP said the lorry was involved in an accident on November 11 in which an elderly person died.

The Macherla police arrested the driver and seized the lorry. Meanwhile, lorry owner Ch Ramanjaneyulu hailing from Sirigiripadu of Veldruthi mandal met SI Narayana seeking station bail to lorry driver and release of the vehicle. SI Narayana demanded huge amount to grant station bail to the driver and to release the lorry.

The lorry owner expressed his inability to pay huge amount and agreed to pay `15,000.Later, the lorry owner lodged a complaint with the ACB. Based on the complaint, the ACB sleuths conducted raid at the Macherla police station.
