VIJAYAWADA: As many as 18,138 candidates out of the 1,55,158 candidates who wrote joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2018 were selected. The results of the exam were announced on Sunday.
Mavuri Siva Krishna Manohar from Vijayawada secured the first rank in OBC category and stood at 5th place in All India Open category. Similarly, K V R Hemant Kumar Chodipilli from Visakhapatnam secured 7th rank in open category at All India level.
Over 29,000 candidates from Telugu speaking States Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region have appeared for the examination. Candidates from Andhra Pradesh region excelled in JEE Advanced examination and secured numerous ranks in various categories.
The seat allocation will commence from June 15. For the first time, JEE Advanced was held completely in the online mode. Selected candidates will obtain admission into undergraduate courses, which will help in obtaining a bachelor's, integrated masters or a dual degree in engineering, sciences or architecture, based on their choice.
