11 Tamil Nadu woodcutters escape from custody in Rajampet

Eleven red sanders woodcutters from Tamil Nadu managed to escape from the custody of forest department at Rajampet in the wee hours of Saturday.

KADAPA: Eleven red sanders woodcutters from Tamil Nadu managed to escape from the custody of forest department at Rajampet in the wee hours of Saturday. Arrested during a combing operation to hunt the woodcutters in Rollamadugu forest two days ago, they were brought to Rajampet for questioning.

Since there was no special cell for them, they were locked up in a room in the forest quarters. The woodcutters bent the iron rods of rear side window of the room and escaped while the staff were fast asleep. The woodcutters were found missing on Saturday morning.
