GUNTUR: As the tenders for road works and construction of central dividers for the city have been finalised, Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) special officer and district Collector K Sasidhar has directed the civic body officials to initiate the works soon. In a review meeting with engineering officials of the GMC, the collector asked them to take up road widening and central divider works at Lalpuram as soon as the underground drainage project gets completed.

“Even the internal roads of Lalpuram must be completed without any delay. If any building or structure obstructs the progress of road works, the officials should negotiate with the owners of the land and remove the construction for laying of new roads,” he said. He also instructed the official concerned to take up works for the central divider at Ponnuru Road immediately as the tender for it was finalised. “Complete the lighting of divider at Amaravati Road within a week,” he told them.

After instructing the engineering department to clear pending bills of contractors, he asked them to take up beautification project for SC, ST colonies and provide basic amenities in areas with dense population.
