Google funds Code Lab at Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology

GUNTUR: Google Inc, USA has funded a Google Code Lab at Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology (VVIT), Nambur. VVIT chairperson V Vidya Sagar said that Google Inc had invested `2 lakh for setting up a lab, in association with AP Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC).

Representatives of Google headed by Clare Bayland visited VVIT in September last year to finalise plans regarding the Google Developers Code Lab in which students can work on emerging and innovative technologies. 

They inspected the infrastructure available in the campus in order to set up their lab. Google Code Lab will provide a guided, tutorial, hands-on coding experience not only for the VVITians but for students and faculty of various engineering colleges in the State, Vidya Sagar said.

VVIT has already been recognised as Centre for Excellence by the APSSDC. 

Google is keen to partner with VVIT as it is the core partner of APSSDC. After setting up the lab, Google plans to organise Ekthon and Code contest for students proficient in app making. 
Google plans to make two million mobile developers in the next two years from the country and APSSDC wants 25 per cent of them to be from AP.
