GUNTUR: Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) announced a city-wide water supply shutdown from November 15 to 17 to carry out essential pipeline repairs. Civic chief P Srinivasulu stated on Thursday that the repairs aim to ensure consistent water availability during summer for all city households.

Frequent leakages in an 800 mm water pipeline near Sanjeevaiah Nagar railway line have caused water shortages in areas within Guntur East and West constituencies. GMC has developed a special action plan for pipeline repairs, with supply expected to resume by Sunday evening.

With Guntur’s population nearing 10 lakh, water demand has intensified. The city currently relies on the Takkellapadu and Sangam Jagarlamudi plants, providing over 125 million gallons daily.

GMC officials are also considering installing new pipelines to resolve these recurring issues and improve water distribution.
