Congress, a dead party: Ashok
BANGALORE: “Congress is a dead party,” said Transport Minister R Ashok, reacting to the exit poll results and surveys, conducted by different organisations and media groups, that suggested that Congress had a slight edge over the other parties in the recently-conducted Lok Sabha elections.
Ashok was speaking to media persons after inspecting the progress of work at under construction Traffic and Transit Management Centre (TTMC) at Shanthinagar.
Ashok also mocked the JD(S) leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy for having gone to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi, with his ‘face covered with a handkerchief ’.
“If Kumaraswamy had the courage, he could have met Sonia openly," he said.
"What was the need to cover his face? He is a representative of Karnataka at the national level and such a behaviour did not at all suit him. It was shameful,’’ he said.
State govt stable
The BJP government in the state is strong and stable and nobody can bring it down.
Only fools can day-dream of toppling the government, said Ashok. When asked whether there was any dissent within the party, he said that the party was united. If any misunderstanding arises within the party, Yeddyurappa and Sadananda Gowda will take care of the issue, he said.
BBMP polls on time
The minister said that the BBMP elections would be conducted within the stipulated time. Work on delimitation of wards will be over in 15 days, he said.
Namma Metro
When asked about the protests and tree-felling issues for Namma Metro work in Jayanagar, he said: “I, in the capacity of minister-incharge, Bangalore city and Minister for Transport, will carry out an inspection of works and plans in the area with BMRCL officials.
