BANGALORE: The fate of 427 candidates, including former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, former chief ministers S Bangarappa, Veerappa Moily, HD Kumaraswamy and Dharam Singh will be decided on Saturday when counting of votes for 28 Lok Sabha seats start at 8 am.
The counting will start simultaneously in all 35 centres across the State and results of all constituencies are expected to be out by 1.30 pm. The first result is expected to be out around 11.30 am. Results of Hassan and Chitradurga constituencies are expected to be come last due to lack of infrastructure there, Chief Electoral Officer MN Vidyashankar told reporters on Friday.
There are 47,578 EVMs to be counted and over 3000 counting tables will be put up for the purpose. There will be an average of 15 rounds of counting in each constituency, Vidyashankar said adding that all the proceedings inside the counting centres will be videographed to ens u r e t r a n s p a r e n c y.
Vidyashankar said that elaborate security arrangements have been made in and around counting centres and also across the state.
Over 43,000 police personnel will be deployed for the purpose besides nearly 23,000 personnel for counting of votes.
