MYSORE: The family of MD Madhusudhan, winner of the Whitley Award, considered the “Green Oscar,” is in a celebrator y mood.

As reports of Madhusudhan receiving from Princess Anne started pouring in on Thursday, friends and relatives thronged to his house to congratulate the family.

Speaking to The New Indian Express, Dowraswamy, Madhusudhan’s father said that he was delighted and happy about his son’s recognition for work in wildlife conservation. “My son and his colleagues are doing wonderful work, such as research in the conservation of leopards in the Himalayas among other projects in Himachal Pradesh and other parts of the country,” he said.

Dowraswamy, a retired lecturer in Audio Visual education, Regional Institute of Education, said that Madhusudhan developed an interest in wildlife at a young age. “I am proud of my son’s achievements. Nobody becomes a scientist overnight. My son has put in 12-15 years of hard work in conservation of wildlife in Niligiri biosphere,” he said.

Madhusudhan will return to India on May 20.
