BANGALORE: Saturday’s election results will determine the future of several candidates.

Victory for some would mean their big break into national politics, for others yet another step in consolidating their position, and for others an opportunity to resurrect their political career.

Whereas a loss would mean political wilderness for the next five years, and for some an end to their political career.Meeting with polling agents and making them familiar with the Election Commission guidelines was the top priority for most candidates on the eve of the elections. Polling agents are representatives of candidates who watches his interests at every polling booth.

For instance, Congress candidate from Chikballapur Veerappa Moily said that his only plan for the day was to go to Chikballapur and meet the polling agents and brief them on what they had to do.Others decided to spend the last few anxious days with their family.

Congress candidate Margaret Alva, who is contesting from Uttara Kannada, took off for Goa with her extended family for two days. Former Chief Minister Dharam Singh has been camping in Bidar with his family since Wednesday.
