BANGALORE: Primary and Secondary Education Department and the Knowledge Commission organised a meeting with the Directorate of State Education Research training (DSERT) and universities across the state on Tuesday to exchange ideas for better performance.
" There will be a formulation of task force consisting with Department of Primary and Secondary Education personnel and University experts to work on future course of action", said M K Sridhar, membersecretary and executive director of Karnataka Jnana Aayoga (Karnataka Knowledge Commission).
Main focus of the meeting was reforms in preservice and inservice teacher education by revising DEd and BEd. M S Patil, Joint Director, DSERT, said the duration of the BEd course should be increased to two years and include internship. He said currently BEd course was not available in distancelearning mode. Patil pointed out that the students of BEd do not get handson experience.
M N Baig, Director of Karnataka Secondary Education Department Board, too said duration of BEd should be increased to two years.
