Will resign if asked to, says Zoo Authority chief

“So far, nobody has asked my resignation. If they ask, I will do it immediately,” said M Nanjundaswamy, chairman of Zoo Authority of Karnataka (ZAK).

Appointed more than three-and-a-half years ago during B S Yeddyurappa’s tenure as CM, Nanjundaswamy said he was very much a part of the BJP and owes his allegiance to incumbent Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar.

He told Express that it is learnt that the party high command has prepared a list of chairmen to various boards and corporations who are loyalists of Yeddyurappa, and from whom Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa has sought resignation. “But I do not know whether my name figures in that list. If the party wants me to resign I will give it happily,” he said.

The ZAK chairman said he has neither complimented or commented against Yeddyurappa after the latter’s relationship with BJP sored. He only concentrated on the assignment given to him and tried to improve things.

He, however, said he was not sure of Karnataka Exhibition Authority chairman B P Manjunath who still identifies himself as Yeddyurappa and Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje supporter.

But, Mysore Urban Development Authority chairman Nagendra is with BJP despite his strain relations with Medical Education S A Ramdas.

“I do not know about Manjunath but I and Nagendra are like disciplined soldiers of BJP and are ready to resign if the high command instructs,” he said.
