Interactive programme for govt schools on July 5

The Primary and Secondary Education Department will organise a programme ‘Shalegagi Navu Neevu,’ in all the 50,000 government primary schools in the state on July 5, said Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri.

He told reporters here on Saturday that though the programme was started a year ago, the Department did not follow it up.

This year, after inaugurating the programme, the Department will see how it functioned and what steps should be taken for enrolling children.

This follow-up procedure will start from July 6 and conclude on July 31, he added.

Kageri said that the main motive of the programme is to enrol every child and ensure that no child drops out until class eight. He also informed that according to the government Act, up to the age of 14, every child should get free and compulsory education.
