Centre to build urban houses

RAICHUR: Appreciating the state government’s progress in housing schemes in the last three years, the Centre has sanctioned one lakh houses for urban areas, said Housing Minister V Somanna.

RAICHUR: Appreciating the state government’s progress in housing schemes in the last three years, the Centre has sanctioned one lakh houses for urban areas, said Housing Minister V Somanna.

He told reporters at Sindhanur on Wednesday that the houses were sanctioned under Integrated Housing Development programme, each costing `2.25 lakh.

 He handed over the houses constructed under Aasare scheme at Hulgunchi, Hedaginal, Volaballary and Haratanur villages.

“In 2009, thousands of families in the state lost their shelter. The government rehabilitated families in 287 villages. The task would be completed by October,” he said.

Sindhanur MLA Venkatrao Nadagouda, Maski MLA Prathapgouda Patil, former Union Minister Basavaraj Patil Anwari and others were present.
