Teacher accused of harassing girl

A case has been booked against a guest teacher in a school on complaints of sexual harassment and threatening a girl in Kinni Sadak village of Aland taluk.

According to a press release issued by the police on Wednesday, guest teacher Ravi Sidharam Kuduke of the Government Higher Primary School in Kinni Sadak village of Aland taluk Allegedly sexually harassed an eighth standard girl when she went to keep an attendance register in his office room on February 1. She told her parents who came to the school and complained to the headmaster.

Enraged by this incident, Kudke went to the girl’s house on Monday evening and threatened to kill her and her parents for defaming him.

The girl and her parents lodged a complaint at Madana Hipparga police station on Tuesday. The teacher is absconding, the press release added.

Rapist awarded ten-year jail term

Madikeri: Suber, a resident of Hoskote, was convicted by the Sessions Court and awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for rape.

M Suber was also fined Rs 50,000, as per the charge-sheet filed by Sunticoppa police.

The incident occurred on February 2, 2011, when Suber visited his aunt’s house in Hoskote. He raped a three-and-a-half-month-old baby.

The District and Sessions Court conducted the enquiry and proved allegations. Of the fine, `40,000 will be given to girl as compensation.
