Shobha accuses government of tapping phones

A day after her resignation from the Assembly, former minister Shobha Karandlaje claimed on Wednesday that the state government was tapping the telephones of KJP leaders and ministers loyal to Yeddyurappa.

Shobha told Express on Wednesday that she had got to know from sources that the government was tapping the telephones of important leaders, including hers, to know the discussions of around 30-40 legislators who swear allegiance to Yeddyurappa.

“We are not militants or terrorists for our phones to be tapped. Had the government used that technique for the right purpose, they would have captured many anti-nationals by now,” she chided.

Shobha said she knew that the government had put on duty policemen from the Intelligence Department to keep a track on activities of Yeddyurappa loyalists not only here but also in their respective constituencies. She said all the 12 legislators who resigned on Tuesday, will be formally joining the KJP on Thursday. When contacted, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar denied the tapping charges and said his party would not indulge in such activities.
