Jayachandra too joins the CM race

With the exit polls giving the Congress an edge over other parties, more leaders seem to be aspiring for the chief minister’s post.

Other than KPCC president Dr G Parameshwara from the district, deputy leader of Opposition T B Jayachandra, a veteran Vokkaliga leader, also seems to be in the race. His supporters in the constituency are egging him on, sources said.

According to his supporter APMC chairman Shashidhar, he deserves to be the CM.Jayachandra (63), had entered the Assembly in 1978 from the erstwhile Kallambella constituency of the district. After Union Minister M Mallikarjuna Kharge, it was Jayachandra who had served in the state Assembly for 25 years.   Jayachandra also told Express that he was aspiring for the CM post given his loyalty to the party. “I am a born Congressman just like my forefathers,”  he said.
