The opposition JD(S) and BJP are hatching a conspiracy to defame the Congress government in the state, KPCC president G Parameshwara said on Thursday. By this they are sabotaging the mandate given by the people of the state, he added.

At a function organised to mark the death anniversary of former prime minister Indira Gandhi and the birth anniversary of former home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel here, he accused the BJP leaders of trying to hijack the legacy and popularity of Patel, the Iron Man of India.

The KPCC president recalled the action taken by Patel in banning the RSS. “While Patel stood for a united India, the RSS and its organisations are working against the values and principles preached and practiced by India’s first home minister,” he said.
