'If Marathis in Karnataka are harassed, Kannadigas in Mumbai will face music'

If Karnataka government continues its harassment on pro-Maharashtrians residing in the Karnataka-Maharashtra border areas, the Kannadigas in Maharashtra will face the music, Mumbai Mayor and Shiva Sena leader Sunil Prabhu warned.

If Karnataka government continues its harassment on pro-Maharashtrians residing in the Karnataka-Maharashtra border areas, the Kannadigas in Maharashtra will face the music, Mumbai Mayor and Shiva Sena leader Sunil Prabhu warned.

Prabhu was speaking at the Maha Melava (convention) organised by the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES), to protest the government’s decision for conducting the legislature session in Belgaum on Monday. He alleged that the Karnataka government has been harassing pro-Maharashtrians by making Kannada language compulsory for them, removing all Marathi boards, issuing all government documents in Kannada and more. Prabhu said Karnataka government should know that Mumbai has many more Kannadigas than those residing in the disputed Karnataka-Maharashtra border area.

Prabhu blamed the Maharashtra government for failing to take timely action on the  Karnataka-Maharashtra border dispute.

Kolhapur MLA K P Patil also confirmed that all MLAs of Maharashtra have decided to unite and support MES in its struggle. He assured Maharashtra would not show any negligence in the border dispute struggle of MES.
