Opposition Leader H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday said by paying Rs 50 lakh, one can get a transfer to a plum post in Public Works Department (PWD) through the PWD Minister.
“But still there is no guarantee that the official who paid the money will get the post as someone else can strike a deal at a much higher price with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah,” he alleged.
The JD(S) leader told reporters that this is no hearsay, but the true style of functioning of the government headed by Siddaramaiah, who ‘leaves no opportunity to call himself Mr Clean’. Kumaraswamy said: “A helpless PWD official recently approached me with a request to help him (official) to get back Rs 50 lakh, which he reportedly paid to PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa for getting transferred to a post. However, the official was shocked when he learnt that someone else had got the coveted post by striking a deal with the CM by paying Rs 1 crore,” Kumaraswamy said.
He, however, refused to divulge the name of the official. He said he would expose the wrong deeds of the Siddaramaiah government at an appropriate time. “It is just five months. Let us give him (Siddaramaiah) a decent time to prove his mettle,” he added. Mahadevappa could not be reached for comment.
