Actress Jayamala, once close to Kannada matinee idol Rajkumar’s family, has decided to campaign against Geetha Shivarajkumar in Shimoga.
She told reporters on Sunday that she would campaign for the Congress on April 11. “I am loyal to the party and will see that the Congress wins many seats,” she said.
Asked whether Shivarajkumar has the potential to ensure his wife’s victory, she refused to comment but claimed that the programmes of the UPA and the state government would give them an edge.
Criticising BJP leaders for making comments in bad taste against Sonia Gandhi, she said women who comprise more than 50 per cent of the population would not tolerate such remarks.
Asked why she did not raise her voice against the attack and rape on women, Jayamala claimed that she had protested on many occasions and blamed the media for not giving coverage. She said they have prevailed upon Sonia Gandhi for 33 per cent reservation for women in parliament.
