The Congress, hit by groupism and 'one-up-man-ship' by rival groups in Mandya, is fervently hoping for Housing and District Minister Ambareesh joining the campaign trail to improve the prospects of party candidate Ramya.

Ambareesh is set to return to Bangalore on Friday from Malaysia. According to KPCC sources, Ambareesh, who was flown to a private hospital in Singapore in a critical condition in February this year, has fully recovered and is likely to take part in campaigning in Mandya.

The return of the Rebel Star is expected to give a fillip to the Congress campaign in Mandya, which was in disarray following severe infighting and animosity between rival Congress groups in the district unit.

"The minister, after taking rest in his residence, is expected to plunge into electioneering on Monday," said sources.
