Congress leader Kumar Bangarappa said the JD(S) has no base in the district and the BJP has fielded B S Yeddyurappa, who was imprisoned on corruption charges. Hence voters should back Congress as it is the only party that assures good governance, he said.

At Sorab town on Sunday, Kumar Bangarappa accused his brother Madhu of tarnishing the pride of their father S Bangarappa and Dr Rajkumar.

“How can a candidate who joined JD(S) just a fortnight ago make such derogatory remarks against me who has been in politics for the past 25 years?” Kumar Bangarappa asked.

He came down heavily on Madhu and his sister Geetha Shivarajkumar and demanded to know what contributions  they had made for the community.

At a Congress meet here on Sunday, District Minister Kimmane Ratnakar said he was confident that people would not allow Narendra Modi to occupy the top position, which was once held by leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Candidate Manjunath Bhandary, DCC president R Prasanna Kumar, former MLAs Chandrashekharappa, Karianna, G D Narayanappa and MLC Prafulla Madhukar were present.

A bike rally was also taken out in Sorab town.

Late Bangarappa’s Picture on Congress Banner!

People of Sorab were surprised when they saw late S Bangarappa’s picture on a Congress banner.  Even some Congress leaders were shocked as  Bangarappa had joined the JD(S) in the fag end of his political career.

The banner may lead to a tussle between the JD(S) and the Congress in the coming days, said political pundits.
