JD(S) candidate for Shimoga Geetha Shivarajkumar, daughter of former chief minister S Bangarappa, called on centenarian seer of Siddaganga Mutt Shivakumara Swami on Sunday.
The visit raised many eyebrows in political circles as the swami is generally regarded as a ‘personal adviser’ to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, who is the BJP candidate in Shimoga. Geetha and husband Shivarajkumar arrived at 6.45 am and met the swami. Artist Tiptur Dayananda Sagar introduced Geetha to the seer. The couple invited him to their daughter’s engagement, to be held on May 2.
Tumkur JD(S) candidate A Krishnappa’s daughter Poornima and BJP MP G S Basavaraju’s supporters who are both fans of Rajkumar, accompanied the couple. They were on their way to Shimoga after attending a function commemorating Rajkumar’s death anniversary.
Shivarajkumar said he has been campaigning for his wife. “But I am not against any of our family members. New faces and youths should come to politics.”
