'Cong, Third Front Lack Able PM Candidate'

Holding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responsible for the suicide of farmer Vittal Arabhavi and the killing of police sub-inspector Mallikarjun Bande, senior BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa said the State government is trying to push these issues under the carpet.

Holding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responsible for the suicide of farmer Vittal Arabhavi and the killing of police sub-inspector Mallikarjun Bande, senior BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa said the State government is trying to push these issues under the carpet.

Addressing a rally at Moorusavir Mutt Ground here on Tuesday, the former chief minister said the wife of the slain sub-inspector, having no faith in the inquiry conducted by the State police, demanded a CBI probe, but the government is hesitant to accept her demand fearing that it may get exposed.

Even in case of the suicide of Arabhavi, the magisterial inquiry was just an eyewash, he said.

The government is least bothered about the problems of the farming community. Let Siddaramaiah come clean on these issues before accusing others, he said.

Appealing to the voters to support BJP candidate Prahlad Joshi, Yeddyurappa said: "The election is being fought against the scam-ridden UPA government to ensure country's security.

"Our party has fielded able leader Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate. Neither the Congress nor the Third Front has able leaders to become the PM," he said.

Saying that the BJP manifesto has laid emphasis on agriculture and proposed a slew of measures to increase farm output, he said: "Modi assured me of presenting a separate budget for agriculture as I did in the State."

State BJP president Prahlad Joshi, former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, leaders S I Chikkanagoudar, Mohan Limbikai, Ashok Katwe, Lingaraj Patil, Mahesh Tengiankai and others were present. Later, Jagadish Shettar along with Joshi held a roadshow.
