The craze of Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches seems to have diluted the Lok Sabha fever in the city. People here currently seem to be interested in discussing IPL matches, rather than ‘Kaun Banega MP?’

In Belgaum city, which was abuzz with election activities till a couple of days ago, cricket has pushed poll issues to the back burner.

It should have been quiet till the counting of votes scheduled after almost one month.

However, IPL which started a few days ago in Dubai, has taken the centre stage here.

If the counting of votes were not so long way away, it would have been a season of betting on election outcome.

But, that is sure to happen when the counting day draws closer, people say.

Now, lakhs of rupee is put on IPL matches in the city. The success of Royal Challengers Bangalore has in the first two matches come as blessing for betting organisers here, giving a boost to their business.
