Police on Sunday night registered a FIR against Babulal Parashuram Puria, his sons Srikanth, Ramesh and his relative Vishal in connection with the Rs 8.77 crore seized from his house.
Cases under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including Land Reforms Act 1961, Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act and also cases under the Money Laundering Act have been registered against them.
On April 12, officials led by Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas raided Puria’s house located in Ganesh colony in the city on a tip-off that he had stored huge sums of money in the house to fund a political candidate’s election expenses.
Officials had recovered Rs 8.77 crore in cash, Kisan Vikas Patra bonds worth Rs 4.3 crore, saving certificates worth Rs 5 crore and land records of over 100 acres.
