National-level Trade Union Convention in Bellary

A national-level trade union convention will be held in Bellary from July 11 to 14, CITU state general secretary Prasanna Kumar said on Monday.

The convention, in which more than 50,000 members of 11 trade unions will participate, hopes to throw light on the basic needs of labourers, he told reporters. The labour problems have not been solved by the governments.

“BJP and Congress leaders  spoke of the common man’s issues during the election campaign, but did not propose any solutions. This shows how these parties take the common man and particularly labourers lightly. Soaring prices cannot be controlled unless there is control over profits and revenue,”  Prasanna Kumar said.

“However, the governments are not working in these directions. In states with Left support, the prices are being controlled. The price and tax rise in Karnataka is the outcome of the BJP rule,” he said.

Political leaders, cine actors participating in the election campaign are eyeing personal interests. BJP and Congress have been destroying the unity of the country, he said. CITU district president H Padma, general secretary Shekha Quadri and others were present.
