City Girl Shines With 8 Engg Golds

Nabeel Musthafa  of Anjuman Engineering College, Bhatkal, and Anushree R of BNM Institute of Technology, Bangalore, have emerged the golden boy and golden girl of Visvesvaraya Technological University

Nabeel Musthafa  of Anjuman Engineering College, Bhatkal, and Anushree R of BNM Institute of Technology, Bangalore, have emerged the golden boy and golden girl of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), securing first rank in BE in Civil and Electrical Engineering with 12 and eight gold medals respectively for the academic year 2012-13.

Musthafa has secured first rank with 89.71 per cent with highest aggregate marks in all eight semesters and highest marks among all rank-holders in BE. Anushreee  has secured the first rank with the highest marks with 91.54 pc.

The other students who bagged gold medals are: Vidya Vardhaka College of Engineering, Electronic and Communication-Waseem Ahmed Ahanger (six gold), BNM Institute of Technology, Bangalore, - Pooja Hegde and Bangalore Institute of Technology, Bangalore, - Sindhu S (five each); BIT Instrumentation Technology- Sara Tajammul (four gold), Adichunchangiri Institute of Technology, Chikmagalur- Aparna Choudhary and AMC Engineering College, Bangalore,  - Kavitha Jain (two gold each).

Convocation on May 3

The 13th annual convocation of Visvesvaraya Technological University will be organised here at 11 am on May 3.

University V-C Maheshappa told reporters here on Wednesday that Governor Hans Raj Bharadwaj, who is also Chancellor of the university, will give away degrees to graduates. Sam Pitroda, Advisor to Prime Minister, will be the chief guest and deliver the convocation address.

He will be conferred honorary Doctor of Science (D Sc). Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande will be present.

The university will confer BE degree to 47,586 students, B Arch to 102, MBA to 5,217, MCA to 2,647, M Tech to 4,572 and M Arch to 11 students. PhD degrees will be awarded to 124 students and M Sc (Engg) degrees to 22 students, he added.
