Jha: Repolling in 12 Polling Stations on April 29

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered repolling in 12 polling stations in nine Lok Sabha constituencies in the State where election was  held on April 17.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka, Anil Kumar Jha, told reporters that repolling will be held on April 29 from 7 am to 6 pm at these places.

The model code of conduct would be in force in all the nine districts, where re-polling has been ordered in certain polling stations.

The polling stations where the repolling has been ordered are -  Haveri:  (Ranebennur Assembly constituency) PS No  57, Bhagalkot:(Jamakhandi) PS No 27 and (Bhagalkot) PS No 07, Bijapur: (Sindhagi) PS No 216, Gulbarga:(Sedam) PS No 165, Raichur: (Shahapur) PS No 35 and (Yadagir) PS No 112, Bidar: (Bidar) PS No 20 and 201, Shimoga: (Byndoor) PS No 174, Hassan: (Arsikere) PS No 72 and Tumkur: (Turuvekere) PS No 8. Repolling has been ordered following reports of faulty electronic voting machines at some places. But Turuvekere’s PS 72, repollling has been ordered following human errors. The Election Commission has suspended four polling officials for this, Jha said.

He said that all arrangements are being made to conduct the re-election in a free and fair manner.
