Special Mela Makes the Disabled Smile

Hundreds of disabled children with limited or no access to entertainment found Sunday a memorable day. They could play, eat and dance to their hearts’ content with no one hovering over them with a list of don’ts at the special mela for differently-abled children organised by Asha Jyothi and Seva Bharati at Canara High School in Dongerkeri.

After Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim inaugurated the mela, children lost no time in trying out the inflated rubber slide, the old fashioned wooden giant-wheel and merry-go-round amusement ride.

Speaking on the occasion, he regretted that in the mad pursuit of materialistic benefits, people did not find time to think about others.
