Ullal police booked a post-graduate student of Yenepoya Medical College in Deralakatte for allegedly attempting to rape a patient on the pretext of conducting a check-up.
The accused hails from Kerala. Sources in Ullal police station said the victim suffering from fever had been admitted to Yenepoya hospital on January 31. Though she had recovered, the accused took her to an examination room on the pretext of conducting a final check-up on Saturday.
Inside the room, the doctor allegedly begun groping her and told her to remove the churidar. When she resisted, he gagged her by stuffing cotton and threatened of dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to police.
She informed her parents about the incident. When the doctor reported to duty in the hospital on Monday, the family and members of a religious organisation thrashed him . The doctor had to be admitted to the same hospital.
