There seems to be no end in sight to the Ramdas saga with Premakumari alleging that former minister S A Ramdas tried to murder her by giving her payasa laced with poison.
Based on her complaint, Saraswathipuram police have filed an FIR against Ramdas and his younger brother Srikanth Das on charges of cheating, attempt to murder, criminal intimidation under IPC Sections 417, 307, 506 and 34.
Premakumari said Ramdas came to her house to have dinner on April 12, 2013. “When I asked him to accept me as his wife, he tried to murder me with the poisoned payasa. I was shifted to JSS Hospital immediately after I fell ill,” she said.
She alleged that Ramdas tried to dodge the issue whenever she urged him to make their relationship public, citing political reasons.
“He harassed me mentally. His brother Srikanth threatened to kill me if I go public,” she alleged. Releasing the copy of the FIR and discharge summary of JSS Hospital, women’s rights activist N J Jagadish on Saturday demanded a thorough inquiry into the issue.
He said doctors had diagnosed her with acute gastroenteritis and dehydration.
“Ramdas might have influenced the doctors not to mention the actual reason for her illness,” he urged.
Meanwhile, Ramdas has lodged a complaint at Kuvempunagar police station in Mysore city against Premakumari, her mother and brother, charging them with blackmail, threat to life and extortion.
