2 Killed Over 'Illicit' Relationship

An alleged illicit relationship between a married woman and man ended in the brutal murder of the duo in at Narendra village on the outskirts of Dharwad on Sunday.

SP Lokeshkumar B S told Express that Laita Pujar (22) and Mallikarjun Madar (30) were seen in a shed in a nearby farm on Sunday afternoon by her father-in-law Rudrayya Yallappa Pujar (65) and his son Shivabasayya Rudrayya Pujar (33) and were subsequently killed.

Lalita who hailed from Gokak, was married to Manjunath Rudrayya Pujar.

She allegedly started an affair with Mallikarjun, who was working with her husband in a ginning factory.

Community elders had advised them to end the affair.

On Sunday, she went to the farm where Mallikarjun was waiting. Rudrayya, who followed Lalita, saw them and locked the shed from and called his son.

They allegedly killed the couple with a rod and sickle. The duo were arrested.
