The Madiga Meesalati Horata Samiti has planned to picket the official residence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on March 12, demanding that the contents of Justice A J Sadashiva Commission Report be made available to the public. Samiti president S Mareppa told reporters here that usually the reports of the commissions appointed by the government are made available to public.
Citing the example of Saorjini Mahishi Committee report which, though, wasn’t fully implemented, was made available to public and was debated, he sought to know why the contents of Sadashiva Commission report, submitted two years ago, continues to remain a secret.
“Dalits had laid siege to the Suvarna Soudha in Belgaum on December 11, 2012, following which the then opposition leader Siddaramaiah urged the government to implement the report.”
“Siddaramaiah is in power now, but he is maintaining silence on the report,” he said. He claimed that thousands of Madigas were injured during the siege after police resorted to a lathi-charge.
