Six persons, including two minors, have been arrested in connection with the murder of an 11-year-old handicapped boy.
According to the police, head constable Shambhulingayya Hiremath had two wives and five children - three from his first wife Sulochana and two from Jayashree. The children allegedly used to quarrel frequently over their father’s property. On February 11, Sulochana’s sons kidnapped Jayashri’s 11-year-old physically challenged son Manjunath on a motorbike stolen from Dharwad railway station. It is said they conspired to use him to blackmail Hiremath, but later decided to kill him near Ramanagar forest.
After killing the boy they called their mother and told her of the incident.
Based on a complaint filed by Jayashri, the police visited Sulochana’s house, said CPI Ramanagouda Hatti. During interrogation they admitted to the crime.
