Gold Haul at M’lore Airport, 2 Held

Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport arrested two passengers smuggling gold into the country and seized 789.9 grams gold worth `24.09 lakh on Tuesday.

Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport arrested two passengers smuggling gold into the country and seized 789.9 grams gold worth `24.09 lakh on Tuesday.

Jaiyafar Chala Muhammed Kunhi Haji from Kasargod district in Kerala, was carrying a gold sheet and gold rod, totally weighing 351.35 grams valued at `10.71 lakh, concealed in a cream tin and a marker pen.

He alighted from Jet Airways flight 9W531, which came from Dubai.

In the second case, Noushad Mouval of Kasargod district, was arrested. Customs officials seized 18 sets of gold hook holders coated in silver paint.
